Places to Visit in Alanya

Alanya, with its Seljuk-era walls, deep blue bays, cool plateaus, and canyons, is a Mediterranean classic offering "routes for every taste." I've organized the list below by theme: hiking, scenery, history, sea, and nature; it's easy to connect depending on the flow of the day.

1) History & Scenery: Alanya Castle, Kızılkule (Red Tower), Shipyard

Alanya Castle: Fortified during the Seljuk period in the 13th century, the castle's walls encircle the peninsula for approximately 6 km, overlooking the city and the sea. A perfect spot for sunset. Lonely Planet+1

Kızılkule (Red Tower): This octagonal tower, dating from 1226, is a symbol of Alanya and houses a small ethnographic museum. It was built to protect the port and the historic shipyard. Wikipedia+1

Alanya Cable Car: An easy ascent from Damlataş to the castle; a short but scenic journey. Check the official website for seasonal hours.

2) Sea & Beach: Cleopatra and Damlataş

Cleopatra Beach: Famous for its fine, non-sticky sand; Blue Flag holder. Legend has it that Cleopatra and Antonius swam here. It's possible to see fish while snorkeling in the shallow, clear waters. Alanya Municipality

Damlataş Cave: Discovered during port construction in 1948, it's known for its dripstone formations and air believed to be beneficial for asthma sufferers. Located right next to the beach and cable car.
